Health issues: what went wrong, and how long it took to clear
Health issues is a simple record of what has gone wrong with your body and when: a sore shoulder, a cold, a rash, a long-running back problem. Over time it shows what keeps coming back and how long things usually take to clear.
When to use it
Add an issue when something starts, and come back to close it when it's gone. It's also useful before a doctor's or physio appointment, when someone asks how long this has been going on, or whether it has happened before.
How to use it
Add an issue
- Open Health issues from the Health group in the menu.
- Click + Add.
- Fill in what you know:
- Issue: a short name, such as "Stiff neck".
- Start: when it began.
- Body location: in plain words, such as "right shoulder and neck".
- Severity (1–10).
- Probable cause, Type, Sub-type and Notes, if they help. Types you've used before are suggested.
- Chronic: Yes for something long-term that you don't expect to clear.
- Leave Relieved empty while it's still going.
- Click Save.
Close an issue
- Click the issue in the table.
- In Relieved, enter the date it cleared up, or tap Resolved today.
- Click Save.
Find your way around
- All, Ongoing and Resolved switch which issues the table lists. Open issues are always at the top, marked with a coloured edge.
- Filters narrows by Type, Chronic, the year it Started, or Severity. Applied filters show as chips you can clear.
- Search… finds a word in any field.
- The Duration column shows how long each issue lasted, or "Ongoing" with the days so far.
What the summary shows
The tiles at the top show how many issues are Ongoing, how many started this year compared with last, your Typical recovery time (the middle value across resolved issues that aren't chronic), and how many severe issues (7 or more) you've had in the last 12 months.
Once you have four or more issues, two charts appear: Issues per year, coloured by severity, and Where it keeps coming back, which lists body areas that show up in two or more issues. The areas are picked out of what you wrote in Body location, so plain words like "lower back" or "left knee" work best.
The "still going?" tag
An open issue that isn't marked chronic and started more than about six months ago gets a still going? tag. Most of the time that's one you forgot to close. The app doesn't guess the end date for you: open it and set Relieved if it's over, or mark it Chronic if it's long-term. The Ongoing tile counts these too, and says how many might be finished.
Tips
- A rough start date is better than none. You can always correct it later.
- Mark long-term conditions as chronic. They're left out of the typical recovery time, so they don't stretch it to years.
- Rate severity at its worst, and be consistent about it. That makes the year chart worth reading.
- The filters change the tiles and charts too; the All / Ongoing / Resolved switch only changes the list.
Questions
Can I record something that happened years ago? Yes. Set the start and relieved dates to when it happened, and it lands in the right year.
I closed an issue by mistake. How do I reopen it? Open it, clear the Relieved date and save.
Why doesn't a body area show under "Where it keeps coming back"? It needs to appear in at least two issues, and the location has to use a recognisable body word, such as neck, back, knee or wrist.
How do I delete an issue? Open it, click Delete, then Really delete? to confirm.
